Oven Cast Iron Skillet Apple Cider Chicken

Based on an America's Test Kitchen recipe!

Place cold cast skillet in cold oven.
Heat oven until oven reaches 450 degrees.

Skin on chicken legs and thighs (enough for your skillet)
Set in ziplock with Marinade.
Put in fridge overnight.

Marinade 
1 c Apple Cider 
1/2 c Sugar 
1/4 c kosher Salt

Seasoning
1 t salt
1/4 t umami powder( Trader Joe's )
2 t paprika
1 t pepper
1/2 t onion powder
1/2 t garlic granules

Dry chicken off.
Season all sides of chicken pieces using all of the seasoning.
Take hot skillet out of oven.
Place 2 T butter in hot skillet.
Place chicken skin side down.
Return to oven for 15 minutes.
Remove chicken and flip.
Return to oven for 15 more minutes or until chicken reaches 175 in the thigh.
Rest for 15 minutes.
Stir pan drippings and drizzle over chicken.
