How to Season Cast Iron Cookware

                                                                                                                             
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Scrub cookware with hot soapy water.
Dry completely.
Spread a thin layer of melted shortening or vegetable oil over the entire inside of cookware.
Place cookware upside down on middle rack of oven.
Cover bottom of oven with foil to catch drips.
Bake 1 hour; let cool in oven.
