Creamy Chicken and Rice Casserole

Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

4 tablespoons butter
1 Leek, sliced thinly
2t minced garlic
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 ½ cups chicken stock
3 ½ cups whole milk
1 ½ cups long-grain rice (uncooked) I used Basmati
3 cups Rotisserie Chicken
1/2 cup cheddar cheese , shredded
1 sleeve Ritz crackers (finely crushed)
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded

Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat and saute leeks until translucent. Add garlic, seasoned salt, pepper.
Add flour and mix well. Cook until slightly thickened.
Stir milk and stock into flour mixture. Turn heat to medium high and continue to whisk as mixture comes to a simmer.
Add rice and lower heat to medium low. Cook until the rice absorbs most of the liquid and is tender, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add chicken to the rice and sauce mixture.
Pour mixture into a 9 x 13 inch casserole.
Combine crackers and cheeses  and sprinkle evenly over top of the casserole. Place in hot oven and cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until topping is browned and casserole is bubbling.

Thanks for the inspiration Cindy!

DIY Cleaning Paste/Pit Stain Remover

Ps.102:24-27

24 "O my God,"I say, "take me not away in the midst of my days-- you whose years endure throughout all generations!"
25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,
27 but you are the same, and your years have no end

Blue Dawn
Peroxide
Baking Soda

Make a paste according to how much you will need for your cleaning project.
Brush on and let sit for 1 hour. Toss in washer and wash as usual. This stuff is incredible! Better than any stain remover I have tried on pit stains. It removed all the set in stains.

I used 2 T Dawn, 3/4 c soda and 1/4 c peroxide.  If too thin add more soda. If too thick add more peroxide.

DIY Dish Detergent

Romans 14:12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

3T (20 Mule Team Brand) Borax
3T Washing soda
2T blue Dawn
2 cups very hot water

Mix borax, dawn and soda together and add ½ c hot water. Shake to mix. Then add rest of hot water.  This is better than any dish soap I have ever used. It is thin and does not create a lot of suds but the cleaning power is superior!! You can soak burnt on food and it cleans very easily.

Deep Hair Conditioner

Job 2:10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?"In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

1/8 cup mayo (room temp)
1 beaten egg
1T olive oil

Stir until incorporated.
Heat for 10 seconds in microwave if your mayo is cold.
Wet hair.
Massage hair and scalp with mixture and cover head with plastic bag.
Leave on for 1 hour.
Wash hair as you normally do.

This works well for all types of hair problems. I had gotten a perm and had frizzy dry hair, not any more.

DIY Lip Gloss

Luke 18:13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'

Old tube of lipstick
Old powder eye shadow
Vaseline

This is incredible! I used a horrible lipstick I could not wear because it was an awful color. I mixed 3 different eye shadows with it until I got the desired color. It is creamy and so pretty! I used old lip gloss containers to hold the new gloss. Start with the amount of Vaseline that will fill your container. Then start mixing the eye shadows in, then add some lipstick until you get your desired color. If you just scratch the eye shadow powder, it will be fine enough to mix. I used a plastic knife and a paper plate.

Stuffed Pork Tenderloin Pizza

Romans 9:22-23
22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction
23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory--

Left over stuffed spinach and fig preserve pork tenderloin(under pork tag this blog)
Fresh mozzarella
Sliced leeks(really thin)
Fresh basil
Fresh pizza dough
Traditional Classico pizza sauce
Drizzle of olive oil(over finished pizza before baking)
Dusting of cornmeal on greased pan

Publix has fresh pizza dough in their bakery department, fresh mozzarella in the cheese department and fresh basil in the produce department. This pizza is gourmet at home!

Let pizza dough set out for an hour. I made individual pizzas for me and my husband. I made one at a time because we were eating at different times. This bag of dough made 5-6 individual pizzas. Work with dough until you get it thin, it will puff when baked. Dust pan with cornmeal and press dough down and shape. Place sauce on dough, then leeks, next chopped basil, the thinly sliced pork and finally that yummy mozzarella followed by a drizzle of olive oil. I baked mine in a preheated confection toaster oven, 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Yummy!!!

DIY Fabric Softener

Roman 4:3-6

3 For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness."
4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:

This does not smell like vinegar! It does a great job and is very cheap!

6 cups hot water

3 cups white vinegar
2 cups Suave Conditioner (I used Ocean Breeze)

Mix conditioner & hot water well, until conditioner is dissolved completely.
Add the vinegar, and mix well.
Store in a large empty container.
Pour 2 tbsp. into a downy ball.
